How to Make White Chocolate Ghosts

These little ghosts are so easy to make and are the perfect addition to any Halloween cake, cupcakes or other treats.

What you need:

How to Make the Ghosts:

In a heat proof bowl, melt the white chocolate or candy melts according to the directions on the package. We put ours in the microwave for 30 second increments and stirred each time until the chocolate chips were fully melted. One cup of white chocolate chips will make about 15-20 ghosts depending on how big you make them.

Lay out a large piece of parchment paper to make the ghosts on. Using a spoon, dollop a teaspoon size amount of the melted chocolate on the parchment paper (you can use more or less depending on how big you want the ghosts). Using a large offset spatula, smear the melted chocolate across the parchment paper. If you don’t have an offset spatula you can also use a rounded tip paint brush. Allow the ghosts to fully dry and harden. This doesn’t take all that long.

Once the ghosts are dry pipe on the eyes and the mouth. Carefully peal the ghosts off the parchment paper (you may need to slide your spatula under them, but they should come right off the parchment paper). We allowed the eyes and mouth to dry before adding them to our cake so we didn’t risk smearing the black frosting. Dab a little frosting on the back of the ghost before applying to the side of your cake (this will act as glue). These ghosts also look adorable topped on cupcakes.

We hope you enjoyed this fun Halloween idea. If you make these ghosts we would love to know how you chose to use them. Tag us in your posts or send us photos. Happy baking!

    • We used buttercream colored black. You can also use melted dark chocolate or you can find tube’s of colored gel for decorating.

    • Hi Michelle,

The pink/orange Halloween mix was from Fancy Sprinkles. They have a lot of great themed sprinkle mixes.
