Looking for an easy pie to make this holiday season? We got you covered! We find that a lot of people are intimidated with pie making because of the crust. There is an art in making the perfect pie crust and it can definitely take time, but you don’t need to worry about that with this recipe. In fact, this pie has no crust and is perfect for any beginning baker.
What we love most about this recipe is how quick it comes together. The only time consuming part is slicing up the pears. Choose pears that are ripe yet still firm. Avoid using pears that are really soft. For this particular pie we used Asian pears. Our brother has an Asian pear tree at their house and they had an overwhelming amount of pears so we decided to take some off their hands. Bartlett or Bosc pears work great for this recipe, but feel free to use any variety of your choosing. You can peel the pears or leave them with the skin on, this is totally up to you. Core the pears then slice about 1/4 inch thick. Once all the pears are sliced, grease a pie dish then layer the pears in the dish so they are slightly overlapping.
Next you will need to make the custard mixture. When we said this pie was really easy to make we weren’t lying. Simply add all the remaining ingredients to a food processor or blender and mix until fully combined. Pour the custard mixture over the pears and you’re done! Well not quite done, you still need to bake the pie, but how easy was that!
This pie is best served warm and can be served as is or topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or your favorite dessert sauce. We recommend our caramel sauce or cinnamon butterscotch sauce. The leftovers also make a great breakfast :). We hope you enjoyed this recipe and would love to hear what you think. Leave us a comment below or tag us on Instagram. Happy baking!
